Projection mapping is the standard industry term. Projector mapping is a common search phrase focused on the hardware. Video mapping is widely used in European and live-performance contexts, usually for moving imagery. Project mapping is an established search variation. In practical use, all four describe shaping projected media to fit a surface that is not simply a flat screen facing the projector squarely.

A projection mapper usually means the software or person doing the warping. The terminology changes; the workflow is the same: establish a stable output, trace surfaces, align corners, mask unwanted light, and play the content.
